DMP to control traffic around DU during DUCSU polls

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will enforce traffic control and restrictions around Dhaka University during the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections on September 9, according to a notice issued by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali on Monday (September 8).

Traffic diversions will be implemented at Shahbagh, High Court, Nilkhet, Shahidullah Hall, and Palashi crossings. Vehicle drivers heading toward Dhaka University have been advised to use alternative routes. Ambulances and emergency services will be exempted.

The DMP also urged drivers and passengers to avoid the surrounding areas to ensure smooth movement and safety.

In a separate notice, the DMP announced a complete ban on carrying or displaying firearms and explosives in and around Dhaka University from 8.00pm on September 8 to 12 noon on September 11, under Section 28 (1) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76).
