Doctors deprived of promotion meet prime minister
Prime Minister has met with a delegation of doctors from the BCS (Health) cadre who have been denied promotion and accepted their application. The meeting took place at the Secretariat on Tuesday, March 31. A group of doctors, who have long been protesting denial of promotion, went there seeking an audience with the prime minister. An informal meeting was later arranged.
The doctors presented their grievances regarding prolonged deprivation, administrative complications and their legitimate demands directly to the prime minister and submitted a written application.
Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon said the prime minister listened to them attentively and assured them that the matter would be considered with due importance.
The application stated that a total of 1,821 officers of the BCS Health Cadre have been denied promotion for a long time. They alleged that despite their qualifications and seniority, promotions have been stalled due to administrative complications, leading in many cases to junior officers working in positions senior to them.
