Domestic worker Ayesha arrested over Mohammadpur double murder case
Police have arrested domestic worker Ayesha from Jhalokathi in connection with the mother-daughter murder in Mohammadpur.
She was taken into custody during an early morning operation on Wednesday (December 9).
Deputy Police Commissioner Talebur Rahman of DMP’s Media and Publication Wing confirmed the arrest, saying Ayesha had been on the run since the incident. Using various technology tools, the police tracked her location and apprehended her.
Ayesha was considered a prime suspect in the Mohammadpur double murder. She will be brought to Dhaka for questioning, while investigators continue to determine if anyone else was involved in the crime.
Earlier on December 8, Ayesha, reportedly killed her employer, 48-year-old Laila Firoz, and her 15-year-old daughter, Nafisa Lawal Binte Aziz, before fleeing. At 7:51am, she was seen taking the elevator to the 7th floor wearing a burqa. Later, at 9:35am, she left the building wearing a mask, carrying a bag, and dressed in a school uniform.
Nafisa was a ninth-grade student at Mohammadpur Preparatory School.
Police said, Laila’s husband, Azizur Rahman, a school teacher in Uttara, left the house in the morning and discovered their bodies after returning around 10:30am.
