Dr Anwarus Salam named new chairman of JnU Mass Communication Department

Dr Muhammad Anwarus Salam has been appointed chairman of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Jagannath University (JnU) for a three-year term.

The appointment was announced in an office order signed by Acting Registrar Prof Dr Mohammad Sheikh Gias Uddin. Dr Salam will assume office on September 27, a day after the current chairman’s three-year tenure ends on September 26.

The appointment was made with the vice-chancellor’s approval under Section 24(2) of the Jagannath University Act, 2005. He will receive the prescribed allowances and other benefits in accordance with university rules.

After taking up the new responsibility, Dr Salam said he would focus on strengthening the department’s academic and research activities and creating a richer learning and research environment.

He also sought cooperation from teachers, students and other stakeholders to enhance the department’s academic standards and take it towards greater international recognition.
