Dr Muhammad Yunus leaves Dhaka for Paris
Former chief adviser of the interim government and Nobel laureate economist Dr Muhammad Yunus has left Dhaka for Paris, the capital of France.
Dr Yunus departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 7:15 am on Wednesday, May 27, on a Turkish Airlines flight. He is scheduled to arrive in Paris after a transit stop in Istanbul, Turkey. Airport sources confirmed the matter.
It is not known why Dr Yunus is going to France, how long he will stay there, or whether he will return to Dhaka. His foreign visit has sparked discussions in political circles, though no detailed official itinerary has been released.
Dr Yunus took office as chief adviser of the interim government on August 8, 2024, following the student-led mass uprising. The 13th National Parliamentary Election was held on February 12, 2026, and he formally handed over power to the newly elected government on February 17.
