State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam has claimed that the 'trophy' of three historical movements, including the July Uprising, is in the house of BNP. He said that the head of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, went to London and handed over the 'trophy' of the July movement to BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.

The BNP MP elected from Bogura said this while participating in the discussion on the President's speech in the National Parliament on Tuesday (April 7). The parliament session began at 10:30am with Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed in the chair.

The State Minister said, the trophies of the three movements - 1971, 1990 and July-August - are in our house. Such trophies are only in the house of BNP, no other political party can show them.

He also said that Dr. Yunus went to London and brought the election date with a trophy to 'Captain' Tarique Rahman, which proves which party was the main leader of the movement.

At that time, when the opposition members started making noise, the state minister said that the opposition members may talk about the 1990s, but they went with the Awami League in the 1986 elections.

Addressing Jamaat, Shahe Alam said that despite having been united in the movement for a long time, they could not be found after 2014. After July-August, they came out in public and tried to portray that movement as if the movements of 1971 and 1990 had not happened.

It is worth noting that in the 2018 eleventh parliamentary elections, Jamaat leaders including current opposition leader Shafiqur Rahman participated in the election under the BNP-led Jatiya Oikya Front symbol of rice.

At the end of his speech, the state minister sought the opposition's cooperation in running the government, saying that BNP and Jamaat want to take the country to a better place together, even though they are separate.

State Minister gave false information: Opposition Leader
In response to the State Minister's speech, Opposition Leader and Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman said, 'Today, the honorable member of parliament has given numerous false information while thanking the President. He demanded that some parts of the State Minister's speech be excluded from the proceedings of the parliament.'

Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said that if any unparliamentary or false information is found after examining the speech, it will be excluded from the minutes. He also said that as there is another 50 hours allotted for discussion on the President's speech, members will have the opportunity to present opposing arguments.
