The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has formed a 'Social Media Monitoring Committee' to oversee members of the education family under its jurisdiction regarding the publication and dissemination of content that contravenes government guidelines or is objectionable, misleading, false or negative. The committee has also been instructed to preserve any such content and inform the committee convener via email.

The directive was issued on Monday by DSHE's Monitoring and Evaluation Wing.

The directive stated that government officials and employees must adhere to the 'Guidelines on Social Media Use in Government Institutions, 2019 (Revised Edition)' and government conduct rules. The Cabinet Division has also issued guidelines on the matter.

To monitor whether members of the education family under DSHE are properly following these guidelines, the directorate has formed the committee.

It further stated that if any member of the DSHE education family publishes or disseminates any status, comment, image, video, post or other content that violates government guidelines or is objectionable, misleading, false or negative, it must be preserved immediately upon discovery. Content that may harm institutional decorum or image will also be covered under this.

The matter must then be reported to the committee convener via email (director.mew@gmail.com) on a priority basis.

The notification must include the name, designation and workplace of the concerned official, the name of the social media platform, the link to the account or profile, the date and time of the post, and screenshots along with other relevant evidence.

All DSHE directors, regional directors and heads of educational institutions have been instructed to take necessary action.
