DU Chhatra Dal pays tribute to Kazi Nazrul Islam on 50th death anniversary

The Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal's Dhaka University unit paid tribute to National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at his grave on Thursday (August 27), marking the 50th anniversary of his death.

Leaders and activists of the organisation placed floral wreaths at the poet's grave beside the Dhaka University Central Mosque in the morning.

BNP Acting Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, DU Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas and General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon, along with leaders from the university and residential halls, attended the programme.

Speaking after the tribute, Sahas said they remembered Nazrul with deep respect and pledged to uphold his ideals of equality, humanity, harmony and patriotism.

He said building a beautiful, humane and discrimination-free society based on Nazrul’s ideals would be the best tribute to the national poet.
