DU forms probe committee over gang-rape threat to female student

Dhaka University (DU) authorities have formed an investigation committee following the gang-rape threat made against BM Fahmida Alam, a candidate for the “Liberation War and Democratic Movement” post in the upcoming DUCSU election.

The threat came after she filed a writ petition with the High Court challenging the candidacy of Dhaka University unit Chhatra Shibir leader SM Farhad.

The matter was disclosed in a press release signed by DU Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed on Tuesday (September 2).

The three-member committee is headed by Assistant Proctor Muhammad Mahbub Kayser, with Assistant Proctor Sheherin Amin Bhuiya and Md Rezaul Karim Sohag as members. The committee has been instructed to conduct a fair investigation and submit its report promptly.
