DU Metro Station to close for 2-hour during Book Fair inauguration event

Dhaka University (DU) Metro Station will remain closed for two hours today, February 26, during Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s inauguration of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026.

Authorities said no trains will stop at the station, and passenger entry or exit will be suspended during this period.

The decision was taken by the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) following a notification from Bangla Academy.

The Academy informed DMTCL that the book fair and associated events will be held from February 26 to March 15 at the Bangla Academy premises and adjoining Suhrawardy Udyan.

Bangla Academy’s letter noted that the Prime Minister will officially inaugurate the fair at 2:00pm on February 26. Accordingly, the station will remain closed from 1:30pm to 3:30pm to facilitate the event.
