DU Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed resigns

Dhaka University Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed has resigned. He submitted his resignation to the university's Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam on Sunday (May 10).

Confirming the resignation, Saifuddin Ahmed told the media that he took this decision for personal reasons.

He said, "I have resigned from the post of Proctor for personal reasons. I have submitted my resignation. At this time, I want to rest."

Confirming the receipt of the Proctor's resignation, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam said, "We will take a decision on the Proctor soon."

After the 2024 coup, the Awami League government fell and an interim government took over. In view of this, Professor Saifuddin Ahmed of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies was appointed as the Proctor of Dhaka University on August 28, 2024.

Meanwhile, after the BNP formed the government through the 13th National Parliament election held last February, changes also took place in the university administration. New vice-chancellors and deputy vice-chancellors have been appointed in the last two months. Meanwhile, Saifuddin Ahmed resigned from the post of proctor.
