DU teacher Monami files case over indecent post

Dhaka University teacher and assistant proctor Shehreen Amin Bhuiyan (Monami) has filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station for posting a distorted picture on Facebook and making indecent comments. The case was filed on Monday (November 3) afternoon.
DUCSU Common Room and Cafeteria Secretary Umme Salma, Liberation War and Democratic Movement Secretary Fatima Tasnim Juma, and Law and Human Rights Secretary Md. Zakaria were present at the time of filing the case.
DUCSU Law and Human Rights Secretary Md. Zakaria confirmed the matter and wrote on Facebook: "The case has been sent to the Cyber Unit of the Detective Branch (DB) for further investigation. The Cyber Unit has assured that in the future, if any teacher or student is a victim of any cyber bullying, including distorted pictures or videos, it will take action as soon as possible."
The case alleges that an edited objectionable picture was posted on Facebook and made obscene, indecent and defamatory comments. Journalist and activist Mujtaba Khandaker, writer and activist Mohiuddin Mohammad, Dhaka College students Nirab Hossain and Ashfaq Hossain (Ivan) have been named as accused. In addition, unknown persons have also been named as accused.
In the case statement, Shehreen Amin Bhuiyan mentioned: "My pictures are being continuously edited and posted indecent from various Facebook IDs and ugly, indecent and defamatory comments are being made about me."
She said that she was mentally broken by the incident and demanded that necessary action be taken against the accused as per the Cyber Security Act.
