DU tightens entry restrictions on 31st night
Dhaka University authorities have imposed strict restrictions on the entry of outsiders to the campus in view of Thirty First Night celebrations. The restrictions will remain in force from 7pm on December 31 until 6am on January 1.
The information was shared in a press release issued on Tuesday, December 23, by the university’s estate office.
According to the notice, key entry points to the campus—Shahbagh, Palashi, Doel Chattar, Shibbari Crossing, Udayan School and Nilkhet—will be closed to the general public during the restricted hours. However, students, teachers and staff with valid university identity cards will be allowed to enter.
Family members of teachers, officers and staff will also be permitted entry upon showing the relevant identity cards.
Regarding vehicle movement, only vehicles bearing Dhaka University stickers and those engaged in emergency services—such as ambulances, doctors, patients, law enforcement agencies, journalists and the fire service—will be allowed to enter the campus during the restricted period.
The notice also stated that fireworks, firecrackers and sky lanterns will be completely prohibited inside the campus on Thirty First Night.
