DU's new proctor Israfil Ratan

Associate Professor Md. Israfil Pk. (Israfil Ratan), a professor in the Department of Graphic Design of the Faculty of Fine Arts, has been appointed as the new acting proctor of Dhaka University.

The appointment was announced in a letter signed by the university's Registrar (Acting) Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed on Sunday afternoon (May 10).

The letter said that the university's Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam has appointed him as the acting proctor from May 10 until further orders.

At the same time, he will receive tenure allowance and other benefits as per the prevailing rules.

It further mentioned that the appointment can be canceled at any time in the larger interest of the university. In addition, instructions have been given to follow the duties and procedures of the proctor as per the rules of the Dhaka University calendar.

The new proctor has been requested to take charge immediately and submit his joining letter to the registrar's office.

Earlier on the same day, former proctor Saifuddin Ahmed resigned citing personal reasons. Later, the university administration quickly appointed a new acting proctor.
