Earthquake jolted country again

A mild earthquake was felt again in various parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka.


The earthquake was felt at 12:04:05pm on Thursday (February 26).


The Earthquake Observation and Research Center of the Meteorological Department said that its magnitude was 4.6 on the Richter scale.


Farzana Sultana, Assistant Meteorologist at the Meteorological Department said that it was a mild earthquake. It originated in Sikkim, India, 455 kilometers northwest of Dhaka.


This earthquake centered in Sikkim also affected several districts of North Bengal. Mild tremors were felt in various areas of Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling and Siliguri. However, due to the low intensity of the tremors, no damage was reported anywhere.


It is worth noting that about 13 earthquakes were felt in Sikkim between the 5th and 7th of February. At that time, the source of the tremors was about 8 kilometers south of Rabangla.
