e-Bail Bond system set to expand to 12 more districts

The government is set to expand its 'e-Bail Bond' system to 12 more districts across the country, as part of a broader push to modernise the judiciary and make the bail process faster, more transparent and free of bureaucratic hassle.

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman will formally launch the new phase through a virtual event from the Secretariat on Thursday (August 13).

The districts newly brought under the e-Bail Bond system are Tangail, Kishoreganj, Munshiganj, Cox's Bazar, Chandpur, Rangamati, Sirajganj, Bagerhat, Patuakhali, Habiganj, Thakurgaon and Jamalpur.

Officials say the initiative is expected to cut judicial delays and procedural complications, significantly easing the workload for courts, lawyers and litigants alike.

Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim, senior information officer at the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, said the e-Bail Bond system was introduced to replace the conventional bail bond submission process, with the aim of modernising the judiciary and reducing the sufferings of litigants.

He added that the initiative is expected to save time and money for all stakeholders, including litigants, jail authorities and lawyers, noting that the system has already been rolled out in 16 districts across three earlier phases.

Md. Azizul Haque, joint secretary (Administration-1) at the Ministry of Law, said that executing a single bail bond previously required 13 manual steps, from the court to the prison. Under the e-Bail Bond system, the entire process can now be completed in just three major steps, significantly speeding up bail proceedings.

The system was first piloted in Narayanganj on October 15, 2025, aimed at addressing long-standing delays and bureaucratic complexities in the bail process. It was later expanded in a second phase on January 21, 2026, to Manikganj, Bandarban, Meherpur, Joypurhat, Moulvibazar, Panchagarh, Jhalokathi and Sherpur districts. In the third phase, the digital bail system was rolled out in Bogura, Jhenaidah, Jashore, Magura, Rajshahi, Natore and Kushtia.
