EC publishes final voter list for 2026 with 12.83 crore voters

The Election Commission has published the final voter list for 2026. According to the latest data released on Thursday, May 14, the total number of voters in the country now stands at 12,83,23,240. This represents an increase of 6,28,057 voters from the previous figure of 12,76,95,183 .

Analysis of the published list shows that among the total voters, 6,52,12,731 are male and 6,31,09,266 are female. The voter growth rate during this period is 0.5 per cent.

According to the Election Commission Secretariat, only those citizens who applied for voter registration after November 24, 2025, and were born on or before January 1, 2008, have been included in the updated list after verification. The commission stated that the final list has been published following due process .

The new voters are predominantly young, reflecting the high rate of registration among first-time voters . The 13th parliamentary election was held in February, and the voter registration updates cover the period since then .
