EC resumes nationwide voter transfer services

The Election Commission has resumed voter transfer services for citizens who have changed their residential addresses, allowing applications to be submitted again at field-level election offices across the country.

An instruction signed by EC Senior Assistant Secretary Md Nasir Uddin Chowdhury on Wednesday (September 23) directed all upazila and thana election offices to receive voter transfer applications as before, conduct the necessary verification and process and settle them accordingly.

The commission had earlier instructed field-level officials on September 2 to dispose of applications related to changes of residential addresses by September 10.

The service was subsequently suspended but has now been restored.

Under the renewed arrangement, voters who have moved to a new residential area can apply to the relevant upazila or thana election office to transfer their voter registration.

The applications will be processed following the prescribed verification procedures.
