The Election Commission (EC) is set to announce the schedule for the election to reserve women’s seats in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad on Monday (April 6).

A commission meeting will be held at 11:00am at the Election Building in Agargaon, Dhaka, chaired by Chief Election Commissioner A.M.M. Nasir Uddin, with other commissioners and senior officials in attendance.

Alongside the schedule, the EC is also expected to publish the final voter list for the reserved seats. Officials said the meeting will cover five key agenda items, including updates on Sherpur-3 general election, Bogura-6 by-poll, election-related legal matters, preservation of electoral materials, and compensation policies for casualties during election duties.

Under the National Parliament (Reserved Women’s Seats) Election (Amendment) Act, 2023, the process must be completed within 90 days of the gazette publication of the general election, setting a deadline of May 14.

However, the EC aims to complete the election process within April, subject to final approval in the meeting.
