EC to begin dialogue with political parties from Nov 13

The Election Commission (EC) will begin talks with registered political parties from November 13 ahead of the 13th national parliamentary election, EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said on Sunday (November 9).

The dialogue will be held in several phases with all 53 registered parties, he added, noting that discussions with the Jatiya Party are also likely.

Following the political shift on August 5 last year, the Awami League’s activities and registration remain suspended, and the party will not be invited to the talks.

Uncertainty also persists over whether Jatiya Party allies from the 14-party alliance will be included in the dialogue.
