EC to deploy army in by-elections, local polls before June

The Election Commission (EC) has decided to deploy the army and make maximum use of modern technology in by-elections, just as in national elections.

At the same time, Election Commissioner Abul Fazl Md Sanaullah has said all local government elections will be completed before June 6 next year.

He made these remarks while speaking to journalists after an inter-ministerial meeting at the Election Building in Agargaon on Thursday, September 17.

Speaking on the local government elections, EC Sanaullah said various levels of examinations will be held across the country in November and December.

Although some free time may be available in January, Ramadan and public examinations such as the Secondary and Higher Secondary examinations will begin soon after.

The commission is working on how to organise the by-elections and local government elections within this tight schedule.
