ECNEC approves 15 out of 17 projects

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved 15 out of 17 projects raised in the meeting, said State Minister for Finance and Planning Zonayed Saki.

He told reporters after the meeting held at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday (April 26). Earlier, the 10th meeting of ECNEC for the fiscal year 2025-26 was held under the chairmanship of Tarique Rahman.

The State Minister said that out of the 17 projects presented in the meeting, 15 were discussed in detail and most of them were approved. Some projects were passed conditionally, while comments and instructions for reconsideration were given in the case of some.

He also said that a decision has been taken to re-evaluate ongoing and previously proposed projects. Many projects are at a stage where it is necessary to re-examine their requirements.

Outlining the government's position on project approval, he said that the government is giving importance to cost savings and rationality. In addition, instructions have been given to examine whether the projects are consistent with improving the quality of life of the people and the government's election promises.
