Ecnec approves five projects worth Tk 7,003 crore
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) has approved five projects at a total cost of Tk 7,003.36 crore.
The approval was given at an Ecnec meeting held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, June 16. Prime Minister and Ecnec Chairperson Tarique Rahman presided over the meeting.
Of the total project cost, the government will provide Tk 4,536.10 crore from its own funds, while foreign loans will cover Tk 2,467.26 crore. The approved projects include three new and two revised projects.
According to concerned sources, the approved projects include the 'Supporting Infrastructure Project for Chinese Economic and Industrial Zone' under the Prime Minister's Office.
Additionally, three projects under the Ministry of Water Resources received approval: the rehabilitation of the Muhuri-Kahuwa flood control, drainage and irrigation project in Feni district (first phase); the Karatoya River system development project; and the first revision of the project to protect various areas of Mirpur and Kumarkhali upazilas in Kushtia from Padma river erosion.
The third revision of the project to establish one technical school and college in each of 100 upazilas under the Ministry of Education was also approved.
The meeting was attended by Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Local Government and Rural Development Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud, cabinet members, and senior officials.
