ECNEC meeting begins at secretariat
A meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, began at the Secretariat on Wednesday morning (September 16).
The meeting started around 10:30am and is the third ECNEC meeting of the 2026-27 fiscal year and the eighth since the current government took office.
According to the Prime Minister’s Press Wing, it is the largest ECNEC meeting so far under the current government.
A total of 16 mega projects with a combined estimated cost of Tk 65,517.26 crore have been placed before the meeting for approval.
The proposals cover areas including infrastructure, transport, public services and economic development.
Details of the allocation for individual projects are expected to be available after the meeting’s decisions.
The meeting is part of the government’s ongoing process of approving and implementing development projects during the 2026-27 fiscal year.
