In the context of the ongoing student movement, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon on an emergency basis.

Their meeting began at the Prime Minister's Office in the Jatiya Sangsad on Tuesday (July 14) afternoon.

A source said that considering the ongoing situation, there may be important discussions on postponing HSC and equivalent exams, decisions on students' demands, or the post of Education Minister.

Earlier, since Tuesday morning, students started a movement at the Science Lab intersection in the capital with three demands, including the resignation of the Education Minister, suspension of HSC and equivalent exams, and re-examination. Later, they protested in front of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board. At one stage, incidents of brickbats and pushing the gate also occurred there.

From there, the students returned to the Science Lab intersection and blocked the road. Later, they took a procession and took a position in front of the Jatiya Sangsad building and raised various slogans.

The protesters' demands include the resignation of the Education Minister, suspension of HSC and equivalent exams until the disaster situation is completely normalized, and re-examination arrangements for students who were unable to take the exams on July 13 due to inclement weather.
