Education Minister urges to improve research quality, welcomes 630 BUTEX freshers

Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has emphasized on improving the quality of research at Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) to further strengthen the country's export sector. He said that there is no alternative to producing skilled textile engineers and researchers to take Bangladesh to the top position in global competition.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the orientation ceremony of the 52nd batch of fresh students of BUTEX on Wednesday (July 1).

The Education Minister said that BUTEX students have an important role to play in the country's economic development and strengthening the position of the textile industry in the global market.

He said that this is a big opportunity for the students admitted to this university. They will lead the country's textile sector in the coming days. We want Bangladesh to move forward as the world's leading country in ready-made garment exports. For this, it is very important to improve the quality of research.

Urging students to be prepared to face the global challenges of the future, he said that new innovations and research should be given importance to further expand the export sector.

Highlighting various initiatives in the government's education sector, the minister said that the Prime Minister is giving utmost importance to the development of education, especially technical education. There is no alternative to education to transform the country's large population into skilled human resources.

He said that initiatives have been taken to introduce midday meals and free school uniforms in primary education. In addition, work is underway to make education more enjoyable and timely. The government is also working to revise the national curriculum by 2027 and implement a new curriculum in 2028.

Dr. Milon also said that it is very important to prevent students from wasting time in their educational lives. Because it is necessary to develop skilled human resources in time to get the maximum benefit of the demographic dividend.

BUTEX Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Member of Parliament Engineer Sanjida Islam and Association of Engineers Bangladesh Convener Engineer Shahrin Islam Chowdhury Tuhin were present as special guests at the event, chaired by Julhas Uddin.

630 new students of the 52nd batch of Bangladesh University of Textiles were formally welcomed at the event.
