Eid travel proceeding smoothly, no extra fares collected: Transport Minister

Road Transport, Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam has said Eid travel is proceeding smoothly and no passengers are being charged extra fares.

Speaking after inspecting Gabtoli Bus Terminal on Wednesday (March 18), the minister added that several bus companies are even charging slightly less than the fixed fare.

“Police booths are stationed across terminals, and any report of overcharging is immediately addressed. Buses are departing on schedule, and passengers are not facing any inconvenience,” he said.

He also confirmed that traffic outside Dhaka is moving in an orderly manner without major disruptions.

Regarding fuel supply, he said adequate petrol and diesel have been available since 11 pm on March 15. “Yesterday, over 32,000 additional vehicles crossed the Jamuna Bridge and all received fuel. Public transport has no fuel shortage, and passengers can lodge complaints if needed,” he added.
