Eid-ul-Fitr date to be announced on Thursday
The National Moon Sighting Committee is meeting to determine the date of Eid-ul-Fitr and review the news of sighting the moon of Shawwal on Thursday.
According to sources in the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the meeting will be held at the Baitul Mukarram meeting room of the Islamic Foundation at 6pm on Thursday. After the meeting, it will be announced when the holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in the country.
Minister of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad will preside over the meeting.
The National Moon Sighting Committee will make a final decision today after reviewing the information on the sighting of the moon of Shawwal received from all over the country. After that, the day of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals of Muslims, will be determined.
The Islamic Foundation has requested that if the moon of Shawwal is sighted anywhere in the country, the concerned authorities be informed immediately.

Apart from this, the news of moon sighting can also be reported to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the concerned district or the Upazila Nirbahi Officer of the respective upazila.
