The defence has sought the transfer of the case over the killing of former Teknaf municipal councillor Ekramul Haque from the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) to a regular judicial court.

Three former military officers and former lawmaker Abdur Rahman Badi were produced before the tribunal on Monday (September 7) in connection with the case, which was filed over allegations of crimes against humanity in Ekram’s killing.

On August 25, ICT-2 ordered Badi and three former army officers—Brigadier General Md Mahbub Alam, Brigadier General Miftah Uddin Ahmed and Colonel (retd) Anwar Latif Khan—to be shown arrested and sent to jail.

The tribunal also ordered the publication of newspaper notices asking seven absconding accused, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, to surrender before the court in the case.
