Election Commission steps up preparations for February polls, Says CEC
The Election Commission is advancing preparations to hold national elections in February, Chief Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin announced on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters at the Election Commission office, Nasir Uddin said the commission is awaiting an official letter from the Chief Adviser, which will further clarify the election timeline and procedures.
“We hope to receive the letter soon,” he added.
Emphasizing the importance of transparency, the CEC highlighted the vital role of the media in ensuring a clear and credible election process. “The media’s role is crucial in keeping the election as transparent as a mirror. We are committed to implementing measures that will leave no room for doubt regarding the integrity of the polls,” he said.
The commission has allocated one month for consultations with various stakeholders involved in the electoral process to ensure broad participation and fairness.
Regarding electoral boundaries, Nasir Uddin clarified that election officials have been instructed to adhere strictly to legal procedures in demarcation, without bias toward any individual or group.
On the election procurement timeline, the CEC stated that the commission aims to complete all necessary arrangements by September 22. The period for submitting claims and objections is open until August 10, after which the commission will finalize decisions through formal hearings.
