Election won’t be canceled at anyone’s demand: Finance Adviser
Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed has stated that national elections will not be postponed or canceled based on the demands of any individual or political group.
Speaking at the launch event of the National Pension Authority’s mobile application “uPension App” on Wednesday, Dr. Ahmed emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful electoral process.
“The Ministry of Finance is providing full support to ensure the upcoming national elections are conducted in a proper and transparent manner,” he said. “Additionally, all necessary logistical assistance is being provided to the Ministry of Home Affairs to maintain law and order.”
He reiterated that elections cannot be halted simply because someone calls for it. “The next election will be held as scheduled and will be fair. Measures will also be taken to curb the use of black money during the electoral process. However, the success of these measures will depend largely on the political leadership,” he added.
Addressing the universal pension scheme, the adviser noted that participation remains low among certain professional groups, including salaried employees and teachers. “We need to assess why this lack of interest exists and take steps to address the concerns,” he said.
Dr. Ahmed assured that any errors or shortcomings in the pension scheme will be addressed and corrected. He also emphasized the importance of including government employees and teachers under the scheme and called for increased efforts to raise public awareness about it.
At the event, it was announced that individuals can now register for the universal pension scheme through the “U Pension” mobile app. The app allows users to log in, verify information, receive notifications, and perform tasks such as changing nominees and managing account details—all from their mobile devices.
