Electronic toll collection begins at Padma Bridge
A modern non-stop electronic toll collection (ETC) system has been launched at Padma Bridge in a live piloting phase. With this system, vehicles will be able to cross the bridge by automatically paying the toll using designated lanes without stopping.
From today, Monday (September 15) at 2pm , vehicles will be able to cross the bridge by automatically paying the toll using the designated lanes without stopping, through this system.
The Bangladesh Bridge Authority’s Public Relations Department announced that, under the special directive of Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, the ETC system is now operational on Padma Bridge.
To use the ETC service, vehicle owners must first register and recharge their accounts via the “D-Toll” option on Trust Bank Limited’s Tap app. They must also complete RFID tag verification and registration at the RFID booth on the bridge for first-time users.
Once registered, vehicles can pass through the ETC lanes at a minimum speed of 30 kilometers per hour. Toll fees will be automatically deducted from users’ accounts.
Officials expect other financial apps to join the service soon, broadening user options. The Access to Information (a2i) program under the Department of Information and Communication Technology is actively working to integrate multiple financial platforms, including Tap.
