3 more arrested in connection with the murder of Shammo
Three more individuals have been arrested by law enforcement in connection with the murder of Shahriar Alam Shammo, a brilliant student of the Institute of Education and Research at the University of Dhaka.
These three individuals were arrested on Monday night (20 May).
To quickly identify the criminals and bring them to justice, the university administration is working closely with law enforcement agencies. Shammo’s family has expressed satisfaction with the continuous actions and overall cooperation of the university administration.
Today, Wednesday (21 May), Samya’s father, Mr. Fakhrul Alam, met with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, at his office. Present at the meeting were the university's Treasurer, Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, and Samya’s three brothers—S. A. M. Amirul Islam, S. A. M. Shariful Alam, and S. A. M. Shahidul Alam.
During the meeting, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan said, “We want to ensure justice in Shammo’s murder case without any political influence. The university administration is firmly committed to bringing the criminals to justice swiftly.” Expressing deep sympathy for Shammo’s family, he added, “The university administration will always stand by this family and provide any necessary support.”
Shammo’s father, Fakhrul Alam, expressed his satisfaction with the overall support from the university administration, saying, “The way the administration has stood by us since my son’s murder has provided us with some mental comfort.” He expressed hope that this support would continue in the future.
