3 Rohingyas shot dead over establishing supremacy in Rohingya camp

Three Rohingyas were shot dead by a group of miscreants over establishing supremacy at the Rohingya camp in Ukhia upazila in Cox's Bazar.

Three others also received bullet injuries during the shootout at F Block of No-4 extension Rohingya camp in Ukhia in the early hours of Monday (June 10).

The deceased are Elias (31), son of Zafar Ahmed of F block of that camp, Md Ishahak (54), son of deceased Abdur Rakim, and Ismail's son Firoz Khan (18) E Block of Camp-3.

The other three injured in the incident are Hashan's son Abdul Haque (32), Nazir Ahmed's son Abdus Shukkur (55) and deceased Omar Mia's son Abdul Monaf (60). All of them are residents of F block.

According to some sources, Md Elias was shot by members of the terrorist organization RSO and severely injured by cutting his hands, legs, lower abdomen with sharp weapons. He later died on the spot due to excessive bleeding.

After that, at around 4:30am, members of another terrorist organisation, Arsa force, arrived at the scene and RSO supporters. Ishaq, Firoz Khan, Abdul Haque, Abdus Shukkur and Abdul Monaf were fatally injured after being shot at different parts of the body and hacked with sharp weapons.

Camp sources said Elias was working as a source for ARSA. RSO members first killed him as he refused to give information about ARSA. Later on getting information about the incident, ARSA members came and attacked some RSO supporters indiscriminately.

After the incident, when the injured Rohingyas were taken to the Ukhia Upazila Health Complex for treatment, the doctor on duty declared Ishaq and Firoz Khan dead. The rest were sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for better treatment.

Ukhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamim Hossain said that the bodies of the deceased have been sent to the morgue. Legal action in this regard is under process.

Captain of the 14th Armed Police Battalion, deployed in the Rohingya camp to maintain law and order situation, Md Iqbal said, “At present, the situation in the Rohingya camp is normal.”
