4-year-old boy killed with gas injection in Dhaka, one arrested
A 4-year-old boy named Abu Bakar Siddiq was brutally killed at a bike servicing shop in the Bawnia Bandh area of Pallabi in the capital, after gas was forcibly injected into his stomach using the shop’s compressor machine.
The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon (April 15).
According to eyewitnesses, the shop owner Sujon and his 12-year-old assistant Akash cruelly tortured the child. Despite the boy’s screams in pain, they did not stop as they pushed gas through his rectum. Eventually, the child’s stomach burst, and he died on the spot.
Abu Bakar Siddiq lived with his family in the Bawnia Bandh area of Pallabi. His father, Md Javed, is a laborer, and his mother, Ayesha Begum, works in a garment factory. His elder brother Jihad used to work at that very shop. On the day of the incident, the child had gone there to meet his brother.
Soon after the incident, Pallabi police visited the scene. Later, they conducted a raid and arrested the shop worker Akash.
Nazrul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pallabi Police Station, said, "We have received complaints against a total of four individuals, and a case is being prepared. This was an extremely inhuman and barbaric murder. No one involved will be spared."
The incident caused widespread anger in the community, prompting locals to protest against the horrific act of child abuse. They called for immediate justice and strict punishment for those involved, hoping to prevent any other family from facing such a heartbreaking tragedy.
