5 members of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement held on charges of extortion in Savar

Members of the joint force have arrested five members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on charges of extorting money from a long-distance bus on the Nabinagar Chandra Highway in Savar. They were later released on bond with their families.

They were arrested from the Baipail bus stand area of ​​Savar around 8 pm on Saturday (March 30).

The arrested were Fazlle Rabbi, Asaduzzaman Tutul, Akaid Hossain, Rakib, Tanjin Islam, members of the Savar Upazila Convener Committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Police said that the traffic at the Baipail bus stand increased since evening. At that time, some boys were working with everyone to resolve the traffic jam by introducing themselves as volunteers. At that time, some were collecting various amounts of money from the bus supervisors. Later, the joint force arrested them and took them into police custody.

The senior co-organizer of the anti-discrimination student movement, who did not want to be named, admitted to the arrest and said, "We were working as volunteers. But the joint forces and traffic police detained five of them. Later, when requested, they released them to their families.

Highway Police Sub-Inspector Abid Pradhan, who was present at the scene, said, "We were trying to move the cars off the road. But the students blocked the cars on the road. They were collecting money from the bus. Later, our sir saw the matter. Actually, it is difficult to talk to them. If they understand, I will do my job."

Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation OC) Mustafa Kamal said, "The joint forces detained them for illegally collecting money from the car. Later, when the students repented and returned the money they had collected, they were released to their families on a bond." However, the amount of money was not known.
