In response to the severe flooding affecting large parts of Bangladesh, passengers who have missed their flights due to the adverse conditions can now rebook their tickets free of charge.

The executive director of Shahjalal International Airport, Group Captain Md Kamrul Islam, issued a directive to 33 airlines operating from the airport, advising them to accommodate affected passengers.

It said that many travelers are facing problems due to the widespread floods, which have made it difficult for them to reach the airport and board their flights. To assist those impacted, airlines have been instructed to allow passengers from flood-affected areas to change their flight dates without incurring additional fees."

Heavy rains and water inflows from India have led to severe flooding in 11 districts, submerging homes and crops and affecting around 4.5 million people. The flooding has resulted in at least 13 deaths.

Addressing the conditions, the government has issued multiple rain forecasts, contributing to heightened public concern.

Airlines are urged to provide 24-hour passenger services and support to those struggling due to the floods, ensuring that travelers have the flexibility they need during this challenging time.
