All state institutions must work together to establish justice: Law Minister
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Advocate Anisul Haque said all state institutions must work together to establish the rule of law, justice, and democracy.
Anisul Haque expressed this remark during his address as the chief guest at the 'International Conference on Judiciary Across the Borders' held at the Supreme Court Auditorium on Saturday (June 8).
The minister said, "The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has consistently upheld the principle of judicial independence and is dedicated to ensuring the professional rights and autonomy of judges in their judicial responsibilities."
Anisul Haque highlighted that the country's development is rooted in the principles of justice, democracy, and the rule of law. He stated, "The current government is firmly dedicated to upholding these principles. Under Sheikh Hasina's leadership, the government is making relentless efforts to establish the rule of law in alignment with Bangabandhu's constitution. Consequently, the rule of law has been successfully established in almost all the sectors."
The Law Minister highlighted that judges now have the opportunity to carry out their responsibilities with independence and integrity, while the government takes a leading role in enhancing the working conditions within the judiciary. He stated, "Substantial improvements have been made regarding the working facilities, salaries, housing, and transportation for judges. Consequently, the judiciary is operating efficiently and effectively to uphold justice for the citizens."
Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan chaired the event, with Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha of Nepal, Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam of the Appellate Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court, Justice Lobzang Rinzin Yargay of the Bhutan High Court, and Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, President of the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association, among the speakers.
