The university administration has suspended Mostafa Asif Arnob, an employee accused of harassing a student of Dhaka University (DU).
According to the investigation committee report, the final decision will be taken in the syndicate meeting later.
Mostafa Asif Arnob, assistant binder of the university's central library, will be on leave until the investigation is completed.
The DU administration has also formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident.
This information was given in a press release sent by Farukh Mahmud, Deputy Director of the Public Relations Department of DU, on Saturday (March 8).
The incident began last Wednesday, when the victim student said in a Facebook post that the accused harassed her by making insulting comments about her scarf on the way back from Shahbagh. He accused the student of not being 'veiled' and his behavior was aggressive.
She said that she was wearing a salwar kameez and a scarf. When the accused asked her to fix the scarf, she retorted that he had no rights to see it. Then, when she tried to call the proctor, the accused quickly fled.
After the incident, the police arrested Arnob, but the court granted him bail on Thursday.
Later, it was learned that the victim student withdrew the case.
She told Views Bangladesh that after the accused got bail on Thursday, she received death and rape threats, and immediately withdrew the case.
After this incident, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Niaz Ahmed Khan met the victim on Saturday and assured her of appropriate action. The Vice-Chancellor also assured that her overall security would be ensured during this time.
