Authorities' information on number of dengue cases is false: Sayeed Khokon
Former Mayor and Member of Parliament for Dhaka-6, Mohammad Sayeed Khokon, has claimed that the current authorities of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) have provided false information regarding the number of dengue cases.
He urged addressing the impending dire situation directly, rather than attempting to cover up his own failures by blaming others.
Sayeed Khokon made this comment during a Meet the Press event at Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of the Jatiya Press Club on Saturday (May 18). The event was organized by the Mayor Mohammad Hanif Memorial Foundation.
He said, "In 2019, when I was in charge of the South City Corporation, dengue was spreading rapidly, and the situation was very much out of control. Despite this, I spared no effort in addressing the crisis. Allah Rabbul al-Amin is a witness to everything, as are the people of this city."
At an event last Wednesday, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh stated, "Analyzing the data, it is evident that since 2019, we have reduced the number of patients by 42,000. This achievement has benefited the people of Dhaka, keeping them disease-free and maintaining a healthy environment in the city."
