'Barshabaran Ananda Shobhajatra' to begin at 9am tomorrow

The traditional New Year's Eve procession, 'Barshabaran Ananda Shobhajatra', will commence at 9:00am on Monday (April 14), from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dhaka University (DU) to celebrate Pahela Baishakh, the Bengali New Year.

DU administration has confirmed this through a notification signed by Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, acting director of the university's public relations department, on Sunday (April 13).

"All the necessary preparations for celebrating the Bengali New Year on the university campus have already been completed. The 'New Year's Eve procession' will begin from the Faculty of Fine Arts at 9.00am tomorrow with the theme 'New Year's Eve Harmony, End of Fascism'," the notification read.

"Preparations for the procession will begin at 8:00am. The procession will start in front of the Faculty of Fine Arts, pass through Shahbagh intersection, TSC intersection, Shaheed Minar, Physical Education Center, Doel Chattar, and conclude at the Faculty of Fine Arts via the road in front of Bangla Academy," it added.
