BNP rally in Nayapaltan Friday
BNP will hold a rally at Nayapaltan in the capital on Friday (May 10) demanding the treatment and unconditional release of party chairperson Khaleda Zia and the withdrawal of the false case against the acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
After receiving a positive response from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Thursday (May 9), BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan said that the DMP has given verbal consent for the rally on Friday.
Three BNP leaders met the DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman at the DMP office at 11:00am to seek permission for the rally. Coming out after about a quarter of an hour, Abdus Salam, convener of Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP, said that the police's attitude towards Friday's rally was positive.
He said, “We had already announced this rally. However, due to the heatwave, it has been decided to postpone it to Friday. This rally and march will be held on the initiative of Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP demanding the unconditional release of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia for proper medical treatment, the release of senior joint convener of Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP Nabi Ullah Nabi and other leaders and activists.”
BNP Central Publicity Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anie, BNP Chairperson Advisory Council Member and Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP Convener Abdus Salam and Member Secretary Rafiqul Alam Majnu were in the delegation of three members.
