Case filed against former DU VC, 12 others
Md Rashed Khan, a leader of the Gono Odhikar Parishad, has filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station in protest of the 'false case' of the former Dhaka University (DU) vice-chancellor in the 2018 quota movement.
The case was filed on Sunday (May 4) around 3:30 PM.
Confirming the matter to Views Bangladesh, Officer-in-Charge of Shahbagh Police Station Md Khalid Mansur said, “Rashed has submitted a complaint alleging that on April 8, 2018, during a mass procession as part of the quota reform protests, students were subjected to sudden attacks, tear gas was fired, and members of the banned student organization Chhatra League were involved. We have accepted the complaint and will proceed with legal steps, including an investigation.”
The other accused in the case are Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak, former Chhatra League president Saifur Rahman Sohag, former general secretary S. M. Zakir Hossain, former president of DU Chhatra League Abid Al Hasan, former general secretary Motaher Hossain Prince, former president Al Nahian Khan Joy, former president of Dhaka College Chhatra League Shakib Hasan Swim, president of the Muktijoddhar Santan Central Committee Mehedi Hasan, then president of DU Teachers' Association Professor Maqsud Kamal, former deputy vice-chancellor Professor Abdus Samad.
