Chief Advisor returns from UAE
Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, has returned to Bangladesh after attending the World Government Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, the UAE Sports Minister, bid him farewell at Dubai Airport as the Chief Advisor boarded an Emirates flight back to Bangladesh.
Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain, Special Envoy of the Chief Adviser, Lutfey Siddiqi, and senior secretary Lamiya Morshed accompanied the Chief Adviser during the visit.
In addition to attending the summit, the Chief Advisor held high-level meetings and discussions with various ministers of the UAE. They discussed several issues of mutual interest, including the "lifting of visa bans for Bangladeshi citizens." Other topics included expanding bilateral trade, investment opportunities at the Chittagong port, and strengthening ties in the fields of sports and education.
The Chief Advisor also urged the UAE authorities to increase the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers and invited UAE companies to relocate their factories to Bangladesh. UAE's Minister of Trade, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, proposed the establishment of a special industrial park in Bangladesh, to which the Chief Advisor gave his in-principle agreement.
