Clash at trade fair, police baton charge

A clash broke out at the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) at Purbachal in the capital, over a trivial incident.

Police had to baton charge to bring the situation under control.

Police said the clash started between employees of two shops over the ownership of a stool.

The incident took place at the trade fair around 11am on Thursday (January 30). Sixteen people from both sides were injured in the clash.

Police have detained two people, Rakib and Habib, from the scene for questioning. The clash has spread panic among visitors to the fair.

Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Pratyush Kumar Sarkar said, "The clash took place over a trivial incident. Later, the police brought the situation under control and two people have been detained for questioning in this incident."
