Countrywide thunderstorms expected to persist for another 5 days
After a month-long spell of intense heatwave, the much-awaited rains have finally arrived. According to the Meteorological Department, this rainfall is expected to continue for at least the next five days.
As per the BMD's forecast, rain is expected in nearly all regions of the country, with the possibility of stormy winds in some areas. Additionally, there may be scattered showers. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature has decreased to 35 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 20 degrees Celsius.
According to the weather forecast for Wednesday (May 8), there is a possibility of rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds at numerous locations in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, and Sylhet divisions. In addition, some areas in Chattogram division may also experience similar weather conditions, with scattered hail expected in some places. Additionally, temperatures are expected to remain relatively stable both during the day and at night across the country.
Meteorologist Hafizur Rahman said, "On Thursday (May 9), there is a likelihood of rain with gusty winds or thundershowers in many areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Dhaka Divisions, as well as in some areas of Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram, and Sylhet Divisions. Additionally, scattered hailstones may occur at certain places."
Thursday is expected to see a slight drop in daytime temperatures across the country, while nighttime temperatures are likely to remain stable. The extended five-day forecast suggests a continuation of this trend, with the likelihood of ongoing rain or thundershowers.
