Demise of Mohammad Ali: SC proceedings to remain shut on Sunday
The regular proceedings of the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court will remain closed on Sunday as a tribute to the late senior lawyer AJ Mohammad Ali, the former Attorney General and former President of the Supreme Court Bar of Bangladesh.
No hearing was held after 10:30am at the Appellate Division and 11am at the High Court Division.
Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan disclosed the decision on Sunday morning during Appellate Division hearing.
Eminent jurist and former Attorney General AJ Mohammad Ali passed away on May 2.
He breathed his last while receiving treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.
Ali had been suffering from prostate cancer for a long period.
Ali was president of BJAF, a body of pro-BNP lawyers, a former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), and an adviser and principal counsel for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
