Dengue claims 7 more lives in 24hrs

Dengue has claimed seven more lives in the country, marking the highest number of single-day deaths from the disease recorded this year.

Some 865 more patients admitted to the hospitals with mosquito-borne disease across the country in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Meanwhile, on September 18, six patients were reported to have died from dengue, which was the highest number of single-day dengue deaths.
The DGHS data said with the fatalities, the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease rose to 150 this year.

Among the deceased, two of them were from Barishal division, two from Chattogram division and one of them resided in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), one was in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) while another was from out of Dhaka city corporations.

Among the patients, 195 people were affected in DNCC, 181 in DSCC and 164 in Chattogram and 101 in Barishal division.

Although men are more prone to dengue, the death records indicate that women have experienced a higher fatality rate this year, with 38.6 per cent of the total deceased being female.

However, at least 621 patients were discharged from hospitals in last 24 hours.
