DU Chhatra Dal leader stabbed to death in Suhrawardy Udyan

Dhaka University's Sir A.F. Rahman Hall unit Chhatra Dal's publicity and publications secretary was stabbed to death in the capital's Suhrawardy Udyan.

Shahriar Alam Shammo, 25, was a student of DU's Institute of Education and Research for the 2018-19 academic year.

Associate Professor Mahfuzul Haque Supan, the provost of A.F. Rahman Hall, said that Shammo was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at 12am on Wednesday in a critical state and was declared dead by doctors.

DMCH police outpost in-charge Faruk said that he had a sharp weapon injury on his right leg. The body has been kept in the morgue for autopsy.

Shahbagh Police Station OC Mohammad Khalid Mansur said that the student was attacked in the Ramna Kali Temple area.

On receiving information, the police went to the scene and Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Efforts are underway to find out details about the incident.
