Students have taken up positions in front of the residence of Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor demanding a roadmap for the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) elections, which have been at the top of the discussion lately.

A protest procession started from Dhaka University's Halpara around 10pm on Wednesday (January 8). After that, the students took up positions in front of the VC's residence. During this time, they were chanting various slogans.

Speakers in the procession said, 'DUCSU elections are the top demand of the students. JUCSU has already given a roadmap for the elections, but the university administration is making various excuses and delaying the DUCSU elections. We want a roadmap for the DUCSU elections quickly.'

Musaddiq Ali, a student of DU's Bangla Department, said: 'We had given an ultimatum a few days ago, demanding a roadmap for the DUCSU elections. But the administration has not responded yet. We want to tell the university administration to give us a roadmap for the DUCSU elections quickly, otherwise the students will take to the streets again.'

Alvi Rahman, a student of the Arabic Department, said: 'Why the authorities are making so many excuses over the DUCSU elections? If the DUCSU elections are not given quickly, we will wage an united movement.'

Mahin Sarkar, the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, said: 'After the revolution of 24, we still have to stage protest seeking DUCSU elections roadmap. Nothing can be more sad than this. You are making excuses to hold the DUCSU elections. Since you are making excuses, we will stage protest every day from today.'

He also said that they will take to the streets tomorrow as well.

Earlier on January 3, the students demanded a roadmap for the DUCSU elections with a 72-hour ultimatum. But even after the deadline passed, there was no response from the university authorities.
